Airport
Airpark Development Advisory Council:
This council helps plan, acquire, construct, improve,
enlarge, extend, maintain and operate property
that borders Bishop International Airport. Recent
projects include the Airport AirPark office complex
adjacent to Torrey Road, and the Flint/Flint Township
Airpark.
Board of Appeals:

This board hears requests for area and use variances
and hears and decides administrative appeals on
zoning ordinance improvement.
Board of Review:

This board hears assessment complaints from taxpayers,
makes changes in assessment or property or adds
property to assessment rolls.
Building Authority:
Allows authority to acquire, furnish, equip, own,
improve, enlarge, operate and maintain a building
or buildings, automobile parking lots or structures,
recreational facilities, stadiums and any other
properties and facilities used for any legitimate
public purpose.
Building Board of Appeals:

This board hears appeals from the enforcing agency
of the building code. It may grant code variances.
It may attach a condition to any variance granted
that it believes necessary to protect the health,
safety and welfare of the public.
Civil Service Commission:

This commission is in charge of developing a system
of employment and advancement in employment under
the guidelines set forth in the law.
Compensation Commission:
This commission meets each odd-numbered year to
set the compensation of township elected officials.
Economic Development
Corporation: (Meeting

This corporation encourages industrial and commercial
development within the municipality through its
ability to purchase, construct, improve and maintain
commercial and industrial projects and to borrow
money, through tax-free revenue bonds financed
by lease options with private enterprise, for
the use and ultimate purchase of such facilities
by private enterprise.
Election Commission:
Chaired by the township clerk, this commission
appoints election inspectors and establishes the
boundaries of voting precincts. The commission
also assesses the township's voting equipment
needs and recommends equipment purchases to the
township board.
Fire Retirement Board:
This board oversees the fire retirement pension
fund and hears requests from fire personnel who
wish to retire or seek disability benefits.
Liquor Advisory Commission:
Chaired by the township clerk, this commission
hears requests for licenses to sell alcoholic
beverages by the glass, and dance and entertainment
permits.
Parks and Recreation
Commission:
This commission provides for the operation of
a system of public recreation and playgrounds,
to acquire equipment and maintain land, buildings
and other recreational facilities. The commission
includes representatives appointed by Flint Township
and the Carman-Ainsworth School District.
Planning Commission:

The basic function of the planning commission
is to make and adopt a plan for the township's
land use development. Most zoning requests begin
at the planning commission.
